Sammy Kabaa, a high school bus driver at Mwala sub-county, Machakos county was arraigned in court over charges of drunk driving.
Kabaa appeared before principal magistrate Davis Karani on December 22, 2015 at the Kithimani Court where he was accused of causing a high school bus accident which occurred in Kilungu near Machakos on June 2 2012.
The bus is said to have lost control and overturned leaving a large number of the passengers injured. According to the prosecutor,the driver was under the influence of alcohol which led to the accident.
The accused accepted the charge and he is being detained at Kithimani Police Station.
The principal magistrate Davis Karani urged drivers to be keen and avoid taking alcohol when driving. He also cautioned them against carrying excess passengers in the vehicles.
