Two people were seriously injured following a road accident along the Thogoto-Gikambura highway on Tuesday.
The accident occurred when a lorry collided with a matatu near Thogoto Shopping Centre in Kikuyu Sub County.
The scene of the accident is said to be a black spot, and occurred when the lorry, which was heading to Kikuyu collided with a matatu headed to Gikambura, leaving the driver seriously injured.
“The bus hit the matatu head-on. Two people were seriously injured while the driver of the KIDAGI was in critical condition,” Morris Waceke, an eye witness at the scene said.
Transport on the busy highway was interrupted as police towed the wreckages of the two vehicles, leading to a major snarl up.
This is the third accident in the last three months at the same scene, and the residents are urging the county government to set up bumps in the area in order to reduce the rate of accidents.
“We are requesting the county government to reconstruct the highway and put up bumps where necessary in order to avoid such accidents,” said another resident.
