The driver of a matatu that overturned and killed four people along Langata road was on Monday charged.
Francis Kinyanjui faced five counts when he appeared before the Kibera law courts.
He was charged with four counts of causing death and a fifth one of driving without a licence.
Kinanjui had applied for bail but the prosecution rejected stating that he fled the scene of September 25 accident and outrage members of the public could harm.
A ruling on bail application will be made on Tuesday.
Kinanjui had fled the accident scene but later surrendered to the authorities after word went around that he was wanted.
