It is suspected that the accident was caused by a tyre burst, injuring the only passenger on board.

Confirming the incident, Yatta OCPD Edward Chagat stated that the driver might have been over speeding, which resulted to difficulties in controlling the vehicle.

“The vehicle involved in the morning accident is a saloon car, and according to the state of the car, the driver might have been over speeding when unfortunately the left front tyre burst, which led to swaying off the road,” said Chagat.

Chagat further stated that police officers from Kithimani police got to the scene following an alert by another driver who witnessed the incident.

“The police have arrived at the scene on time and taken the driver to Matuu Level 4 Hospital for first aid and further treatment, while the vehicle has been towed to our police station for further investigation of the cause of the accident,” he added.

The driver is believed to have been headed to Matuu town from Nairobi.

The police boss has however called upon all motorists to observe traffic rules and avoid over speeding despite the condition of the roads whether busy or not.
