Five passengers were on Friday injured when a matatu they were traveling in veered into a ditch in Homa Bay town.
According to eye witnesses, the 14-seater vehicle ended up in the ditch after the driver lost control as he was negotiating a corner.
The injured were taken to the Homa Bay County Referral Hospital for treatment by residents.
The driver is said to have disappeared shortly after the incident.
Area OCPD Esau Ochorokodi asked residents and passengers with information to report the whereabouts of the driver.
"My officers visited the hospital and found the injured had been discharged," he said.
