More than 50 drivers and motor bike operators in Kamwangi town have benefited from a one-day road safety training aimed at reducing road carnage in the area.

Speaking after the exercise in Kamwangi town, the area deputy commandant Moses Mwau said that the training would play a critical role in observing road safety.

"We have positioned our public vehicle drivers and motor bike operators differently by training them on traffic rules as well as a refresher on the meaning of different road signs all geared towards reducing accidents on our roads," he said.

The deputy police boss reiterated that most road accidents happen due to ignorance among drivers and conductors.

"Road accidents do not only happen because of road carelessness but also due to lack of knowledge on how to face situations that may arise unexpectedly. We have equipped the trainees during the four hours session with enough tips that will help them to remain secure as well as securing lives of passengers in our roads," he added.

The exercise is part of the conditions that traffic police department in Gatundu North sub county has to meet following recent accidents in the area.
