The drivers have complained that the road is in poor state and needs urgent repair.

Musa Kiberia, the spokesperson of the Nakuru truck drivers association, said they found it hard to access Viwandani bacause of the poor state of the connecting road.

"We want to appeal to the county government to consider renovating the Stanley Mathenge road," said Kiberia, adding that the road is worse and often rendered impassable during heavy rains.

The drivers further urged the county to install streetlights along the road in order to boost security. Kiberia said that truck drivers are sometimes mugged and robbed at night due to insecurity brought by lack of streetlights, making the place to be a danger zone.

He asked the county roads executive to address their plight, saying that their safety is at stake.

“Most of the truck drivers avoid using the road at night -- a move which has tremendously slowed down business and caused delays,” said Kiberia.

County roads execuitve Joel Maina said that the road is among those that will be repaired soon. He said that the county government is keen on repairing all roads in the county so as to ease transport.

"We have allocated a lot of money to infrastructure development across Nakuru County,” said Maina, before warning residents against vandalising streetlights.

"Vandalism is a crime and anyone caught will be arrested and fined heavily," warned Maina.
