Governor William Kabogo wants opposition leaders to drop their weekly anti-IEBC protests for the interest of peace and unity of Kenyans.
Kabogo said that Cord’s anti-IEBC protests are a threat to the country’s peace as it heads to the 2017 elections.
The Kiambu governor, while addressing the public during the Madaraka Day celebrations at Ndumberi grounds on Wednesday further asked the opposition leaders to utilize alternative mechanisms in seeking changes to the electoral body.
“Cord leaders led by Raila Odinga should stop taking Kenyans for granted and instead be on the frontline in protecting the constitution,” he said.
Kabogo added that opposition leaders had refused to use the constitutional means required for any changes to constitutional independent government bodies.
Kabogo stated that Cord will gain nothing through protests adding that their continued agitation for protests will scare away business and create political anxiety.
The Kiambu governor at the same time hit at Cord accusing them of bringing conditions on dialogue.
“The opposition must stop giving conditions for dialogue ad instead come to the table for meaningful discussions,” he added.
