University of Yale don Crispin Nyamongo now wants Cord leader Raila Odinga to drop Co-principals Kalonzo Musyoka and Moses Wetangula and extend an olive hands to former Pentagon Members William Ruto and Musalia Mudavadi to boost his chances of winning 2017 polls.
This comes when Cord is facing internal wrangles over the suitable candidate to be the coalition’s flag bearer in 2017 as both Kalonzo and Wetangula piles pressure on Odinga.
Nyamongo told the reporter during a breakfast meeting on Friday at Kisii that the two principals were ‘liabilities’ to Odinga who is planning to try his luck for the fourth time.
“I think there is no question that Raila is the best-suited candidate to challenge President Kenyatta in 2017. The other two (Kalonzo and Wetangula) cannot be a threat to Jubilee,” he said.
“If I were Raila, I would basically drop the two because they are insignificant to his camp and try to reach DP Ruto and Mudavadi because this is politics,” added the renowned don.
He said the duo (Wetangula and Kalonzo) commanded few electorates than Ruto and Mudavadi who they said could easily join forces with the ODM leader.
“Honestly, Kalonzo and Wetangula command a small section of electorates and are basically a liability to Odinga," said Nyamongo.
"The game will change if he reaches Ruto and Mudavadi because they never had serious problems before falling out. This is politics and anything is possible,” said the political scientist.
