Constituents of Bonchari have been asked to stop past cultural practices such FGM, early marriages and focus on development practices.

Area MP John Oyioka said residents should drop practices such as Female Genital Mutilation and focus on educating their children.

"Past practices such as FGM and early marriages should be dropped from society. We need to focus on educating the children to better their lives in the future," he said.

He challenged parents to stop pushing for outlawed practices among them early marriages among young people.

"Women should form self-help groups so that they can use the groups to borrow loans and start small businesses instead of involving themselves in outlawed practices which may land them in court," said the MP.

Oyioka added that through unity, the constituency will develop and make it a place to live in.

"We all belong to Bonchari and I  am urging all residents to remain united irrespective of a political stand to develop the region," he added.
