Njoroge says Uhuru cannot risk having Ruto as his running mate because of his alleged involvement in graft.

"Let Uhuru understand that we cannot afford this anymore and he has to have a Plan B," he said on Tuesday.

The senator says the DP and his closest allies were behind the infamous Sh1.67 billion NYS scam.

“I humbly appeal to the President (Uhuru), requesting him to ask his deputy to step aside as happened to his former Chief of Staff Marianne Keitany to pave way for quick investigations,” he said.

The Jubilee allied senator says Ruto’s public spat with former Cabinet Secretary Anne Waiguru was because Waiguru refused to play ball in the looting game plan.

Ruto’s aide Farouk Kibet, close allies MP Aden Duale and Elgeyo Marakwet Senator Kipchumba Murkomen, had been linked to the NYS scam by Waiguru.

DP Ruto, in a rejoinder, told the Kirinyaga gubernatorial aspirant to carry her own cross, and to stop dragging his office into the mega scandal.

“We cannot continue fooling Kenyans by making them think Waiguru stole the NYS funds, yet the real thieves are enjoying the stolen funds,” Njoroge said.

In July, Senator Njoroge told DP Ruto not to expect automatic support from Mt Kenya region come 2022, if he vies for President.

His remark sparked outrage within the Jubilee Party pitting Rift Valley leaders against Central Kenya politicians.
