Kalonzo who has been enjoying the political superiority in Ukambani region will definitely have to win the hearts of Ukambani residents before making it to the ballot.

Governor Mutua who also hails from the same region with Kalonzo has declared his presidential bid and argues that Kalonzo Musyoka should step down and support him.

Addressing journalists in Kitui town on Wednesday, Maendeleo Chap Chap Secretary general Stephen Kilonzo asked the former vice president to drop his bid and support governor Mutua.

"I personally respect Kalonzo and appreciate the much he has done for this nation as a leader, but his time is certainly up. He should honorably hand over the mantle to his political mentee and kinsman, Alfred Mutua. Unlike Kalonzo, Mutua has won the support and confidence of many Kenyans even as he braces for the 2022 presidential contest,” said Kilonzo.

This comes when the political crisis in Nasa coalition is at the climax thus complicating things for Wiper party after Kalonzo failed to take part in the controversial swearing in of Raila Odinga and recently the ‘handshake’ between Raila Odinga and President Uhuru Kenyatta.
