Nyali MP hopeful and former KTN Investigative Journalist Mohamed Ali has promised to push for laws that will flush out drug barons and traffickers if elected in the August 8th general election.

In an interview with the Daily Nation, Ali said that drug trafficking is a matter of serious concern in  Mombasa and the larger Coast region.

The former investigative reporter said that suspected drug lords and drug traffickers are roaming the streets freely.

He said that the current elected leaders in Mombasa have failed to tame drug barons who he claims have condemned the lives of young people to misery.

“It will not be business as usual in the fight against drug trafficking if I am elected MP in August,” he said as quoted by the Daily Nation.

The Nyali MP aspirant also said that he will crash out on politicians allegedly working with drug barons.

Ali claimed that the drug cartels chain is huge, adding that he will work with the national government to dismantle it.

The former investigative reporter who is vying as an independent candidate also vowed to weed out terror agents who he claimed are radicalising young people to terrorism.

He said that terrorism is a serious threat to development and must be stamped out at all costs. The former investigative reporter is eyeing the Nyali seat currently held by Hezron Awiti.

Awiti will not be defending the seat as he has declared interest in the Mombasa gubernatorial seat.

Mohamed Ali will be battling out with Said Abdalla who won the ODM Party ticket in the nomination.
