[Photo|PPB]The Directorate of Inspectorate and Surveillance from the Pharmacy and Poisons Board (PPB) has conducted a series of stakeholder meetings in regard to abuse of Benylin with Codeine syrup and cozepam tablets in Mandera town. The consultative meetings which took place between 24th November - 3rd December 2017 were led by the directorate head Dr Jacinta Wasike. The drug inspectors met with key stakeholders among them County Assembly Members, County Assembly Management Teams, County Security Committee and the Private Healthcare Providers and explored mechanism and solutions of ending drug abuse in Mandera County. All the stakeholders agreed to support each other to curb drug abuse in the County. PPB on Wednesday said it would increase surveillance at the border town and intensify crack down on illegal pharmaceutical outlets.The security team was tasked to crack down on kiosks and Miraa dents that sell pharmaceuticals.
