Speaking to students, parents and other stakeholders at Chania Boys High School in Thika, Ng’ang’a said it is worrying to see how leaders have been using children to enrich themselves at the expense of the youngsters’ lives.

“You need to know who your child relates with as they could be in the company of the wrong people. Drugs are now everywhere, in our schools and colleges, and it is our children smuggling them on behalf of some big people,” says Ng’ang’a.

The legislator asked the parents to be on the frontline in the fight against drugs which she said have affected many secondary school and college students in the area.

Thika town is a potential haven for drug smuggling with many youths drawn from all the counties coming to the town to seek higher education. The sub county hosts several colleges and other institutions of higher learning which has increased the number of students who are easy target for easy money.
