Drugs worth Sh 70 million have been purchased and distributed among 138 facilities in Nakuru County. Nakuru County Governor Kinuthia Mbugua presided over the flagging of vehicles carrying the drugs. The event that took place at the governor’s office grounds was attended by among others the county CECs, representatives of Kemsa, members of the public and other county government officials. Speaking on behalf of Kemsa CEO, Jeffrey Alumina, an official with the medical supplies agency, lauded Nakuru county government for allocating the highest amount of money in the purchase of drugs compared to other counties. “Nakuru County is one of the counties whose budget for medical supplies is the highest in the country. They have doubled what amount used to be allocated for buying medicines previously,” said Alumina. Speaking at the event, the governor revealed that for this financial year only, the county has set aside Sh 242 million for purchase of drugs. “Our budget for stocking drugs to our medical facilities this year is Sh 242 million and so far, Sh 135.6 million has been spent which includes the delivery of Sh 70 million drugs,” said Mbugua. He also took the opportunity to thank members of the medical staff in all the health facilities for their diligence and for their habit of solving issues diplomatically.
