Mr Joseph Wycliffe Rotich lost his job just days after the video footage showing him totally wasted and disorderly while in official uniform went viral on social media on March 23, 2016.

In the video, the former sub-chief is seen lying on the ground heavily intoxicated while dismissing the president's directive on illegal brews.

Nacada chairman John Mututho on Tuesday revealed that the authority had taken up the former administrator to help him get over his drinking problem.

Mr Mututho, in an interview with The Nation said the agency was keen to transform the life of the former sub-chief.

“Addicts should be assisted to abandon their drinking habits and given a second chance in life because indulging in alcohol is like a disease." he said

Mututho also said he was touched when he saw the news about the sacking of the chief insisting that there are reasons behind his binge drinking.

Mr Rotich served in the Kenya army and the general service unit (GSU) between 1977 and 1991 before quitting.
