The Kisii County tea factory production manager is facing suspension over alleged gross misconduct in the factory premises. The manager is said to have been drunk at the time he fought a worker in the Kiamokama tea factory on Wednesday night for unknown reasons. The security personnel in the factory were reluctant to respond to the aid of Samson Tirimba who works as a fan operator in the factory due to the rank of the manager and fear of the reprisal. Fellow workers went forward to record statements at the Ibacho police post as the injured applied for a p3 form from Ibacho health centre. Farmers from Gesusu tea buying centre where the injured worker hails from demonstrated on Thursday morning by walking about 10 kilometers to the factory demanding an explanation from the management over the same. The issue prompted an emergency meeting between directors and management to discuss the conduct having fought other workers severally, the factory unit manager Robert Maina promised to take stern action on the accused. Sources from the directors meeting state that the management agreed to suspend the accused till police investigations are over and even threatened to assist in his arrest and removal from office.
