A primary school teacher was on March 29, 2016 critically injured in an accident near Ekalakala bus stage in Masinga sub-county.
"The man was staggering on the road and he could not control himself, situation that led to the accident," said Paul Maithya an eye witness.
According to the area sub-chief Timothy Nzioka Kivati, the bus was overspeeding and it seemed that the driver got shocked and veered off the road trying not to hit the man but, unfortunately, he hit him leaving him with severe injuries all over his body.
"I got information about the accident and after investigations, I have confirmed that the man was under influence of illicit liquor.
He warned people of brewing and taking illicit brew which has become common in the area despite the continued crackdown.
He reiterated that the if the man was sobber he could not have been knocked down.
The man was rushed to Machakos level five hospital where he is recuperating.
The bus was also taken to Ekalakala police station as more investigations are carried out.
