Irate youths on Saturday stormed a drug and alcohol sensitisation meeting in Meru claiming that the participants were planning on doing away with cheap liquor.

The drunk youths questioned the area MCA and Meru county executive for youth and sports Daniel Kiogora on their plans for the area's cheap alcohol.

The two had convened the meeting.

When Kiogora rose to speak, drama started as the youths demanded that he does not speak about bhang.

In his speech, Kiogora said drug abuse had taken a toll on the youths in the area and led residents to poverty, school dropouts as well as male dysfunction.

“We have embarked on sensitisation, because this must come to an end. We will continue to talk to them. We also urge residents to support our fight against bhang and second-generation alcohol,” Kiogora said.
