Garissa Township MP Aden Duale has accused IEBC of skewed distribution of voter verification kits in the 6 constituencies of Garissa County.
The national assembly majority Leader, speaking to the press at Madrassa Khadija in Garissa town, said IEBC CEO, Ezra Chiloba has a hidden agenda with his constituency.
Duale said his constituency with over 55, 000 registered voters was allocated only 25 kits while constituencies like Lagdera and Daadab with about 20, 000 voters received 20 kits.
“We can see that the CEO is playing some games with us. You have an agenda for Garissa Township and I must tell the commission that I am not happy with the way they are doing things,” he said as quoted by KNA.
Duale said he will write to the commission chairman to demand answers.
“They need to come clean and explain how they ended up giving my constituency which has the highest registered voters in the whole of North Eastern province such a small number of kits,” he noted.
He argued that the 1 month verification exercise was enough and within the law.
Duale will face off with former Deputy Speaker, Farah Maalim of Wiper party, Abdi Yare of ANC party and Nasir Dolal of ODM party in the August 8 general elections.
