Speaking to the media on Tuesday, Duale observed that the amount Kenya spent on lobbying for Amina's candidature is justifiable, vowing to defend the budget when it will be tabled before the National Assembly.

"Every country spent money seeking support for their candidates. This budget will come to Parliament under supplementary estimates and we shall defend it," the Star quoted Duale.

Kenya reportedly chartered a private plane for Deputy President William Ruto's shuttle diplomacy across Africa to lobby for Amina's support.

Amina lost to Chad minister Moussa Mahamat in the elections held in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia on Monday.
