Garissa Political analyst Hillary Obure says Duale is gaining political mileage from the scramble between the two constituencies; Balambala and Garissa town and may go unopposed in the 207 general elections.
The Garissa Township and Balambala constituencies both want Duale to vie in their constituencies, something he says portrays the Majority leader as a man of the people.
He adds that with this notion, it will be disastrous to compete with Duale.
“Duale has already made ground for himself. It will be very hard to influence such people who believe Duale is the best and an advocate of the peoples welfare to vote otherwise,” says Obure.
He attributes this to Duale's vocal nature and touch with the people for the political mileage.
“Duale in the current politics is the only man assured of his position. If it has got to a point where different communities are now fighting for him, then he has the peoples’ favour and they believe in him. With my experience in politics, it is very rare to find such kind of favour especially after serving the 1st term in office,” he says.
