There has been a growing resistance from a section of both TNA and URP members who feel that the merger will lock them out from the nomination and will subsequently not have a fall back in case they miss out on the ticket.
Adan Duale, who is the majority leader in the National Assembly and also among the URP founders, cleared the air about this pressing issue by assuring Jubilee members that no one will lose his or her seat after formation of the new party.
Speaking in Garissa County during the 4th graduation ceremony at Najah Children's Home, Duale said they want to unite the country along ethnic, religious lines and regions.
‘‘Those who believe in why we should become one huge party, should come with us,’’ said Duale.
He added that they have brought an amendment to the political parties that have gone to the National Assembly and now the Senate and expect the Senate to conclude the process by the second week of June.
On IEBC matters, the majority leader criticised Cord's call for the disbandment of the electoral body, terming them as baseless.
“We are ready to dialogue with all the players but let’s use the structures provided for in the constitution in as far as the IEBC matter is concerned,” Duale said.
