[President Uhuru Kenyatta, Deputy William Ruto and Majority leader Aden Duale at a past function] Photo source www.the-star.co.ke]National Assembly Majority Leader Aden Duale has assured President Uhuru Kenyatta that he will mobilize Members of Parliament to pass the two-third gender rule Bill once the house returns from recess ahead of the August General polls.
Uhuru, who spoke during his sister’s funeral service on Sunday, had called upon Duale, Garissa Town MP to push for the passing and implementation of the rule when the house resumes sittings.
The legislator has said that the bill will be printed in the course of the day as it awaits approval from parliament.
“I want to tell the president that I have taken the challenge and instructions and I want to ask Members of Parliament to support that Bill when we resume,” he said, as quoted by Star.
The MP, who spoke at Garissa Ndogo, urged his fellow parliamentarians to support the bill that will see more special seats created in the house to accommodate different groups of Kenyans.
The Majority leader has been very vocal in matters of National interest since he took over office after the last general elections.
Meanwhile, he will be defending his Garissa town seat in the forthcoming polls which has also attracted Farah Maalim.
