Garissa Town Member of Parliament Aden Duale has once again attacked the judiciary, accusing it of encroaching on the role Parliament.
According to the MP, the judiciary has been issuing ‘whimsical judgments’ which have over time undermined the independence and the authority of parliament.
Speaking during the first day of the 2017 post-election induction seminar at the Pride Inn Hotel, Mombasa Monday, Duale further said they will not allow the judiciary to ‘encroach’ on their mandate.
“The Constitution has assigned powers to each of the three arms of government to avoid overlaps. We expect the Judiciary to respect the role of Parliament,” he told the audience.
The seminar is organized by the National Assembly in conjunction with the Commonwealth Parliamentary Association (CPA) and gives MPs the chance to share experiences in order to promote good governance.
Duale was saying this in the presence of Deputy Chief Justice Philomena Mwilu, who was among the judicial officials in attendance.
