Duale was ranked at position while Maalim was 15 in a research conducted by Kenyan.co.ke. The two leaders are contesting for the Garissa Town parliamentary seat currently held by Duale.
North Eastern leaders competed favorably in the contest to establish the most popular politician in the nation with the likes of Mandera Governor Ali Roba and Bill Kerrow listed among the top 100 most popular leaders in the political arena. Interestingly, Garissa Governor Nathif Jama was not among the top 100.
NASA Presidential candidate Raila Amolo Odinga was ranked most popular politician countrywide. The former prime minister was followed by President Uhuru Kenyatta as Deputy William Ruto and Wiper Party Leader Stephen Kalonzo Musyoka took the third and fourth positions respectively.
In Mombasa, Governor Ali Hassan Joho was ranked at position six countrywide as gubernatorial aspirant Suleiman Shabhal’s name missed in list. In Kilifi Governor Amason Kingi defeat Former Labour CS Kazungu Kambi and Kilifi North Gideon Mung’aro.
In Machakos Governor Mutua came second after Wiper Party Stephen Kalonzo Musyoka. Senator Johnson Muthama was also listed the influential leaders from the region.
