[Duale (L) during the prayer session. He has accused Chief Kadhi of misleading Kenyans on Ramadan close.] (facebook.com/Aden Duale)Garissa Township MP Aden Duale has blasted Kenya’s Chief Kadhi over what he termed the cleric's deliberate move to mislead Kenyans over when to end Ramadhan.
Duale on Sunday said: “Today we want reiterate the position that the moon was sighted in Habeswein (Wajir County), Marsabit County and Kipini (Lamu County) among many other parts of our country as well as many Muslim countries including Saudi Arabia.”
He spoke after joining thousands of Muslim faithful in Eid prayers at Sir Ali Sports ground.
The prayers were attended by Muslim scholars and Imam's.
“It is irresponsible and out of order for the Kenyan Chief Kadhi to mislead and divide the Muslim Umma using an office created by the Constitution under article 170 for the unity and interest of the Muslim,” the outspoken Parliament Majority Leader said.
“The Chief Khadhi can not work in isolation of the Muslim leaders and organisations when making a decision on the destiny of the Umma.”
On Sunday morning Kenya’s Chief Kadhi Al Mukhdhar A.S. Hussein announced that Eid al-Fitr celebrations to mark the end of the holy month of Ramadhan would be held on Monday because the moon had not been sighted in East Africa.
