Duale made the scathing attack following the church's call for the disbandment of the IEBC ahead of the 2017 general elections.

The National Council of Churches (NCCK) on Saturday offered their support to the opposition CORD coalition in their quest to oust the current IEBC officials over the allegations that the commission has been manipulated by the ruling Jubilee coalition.

The majority leader told the clergy to keep away from politics and instead, focus on their religious duties and cleaning the mess that is rampant in the present day churches.

As to why he referred the church leaders as Prophets of Doom, Duale explained that the church cannot claim to be in a position to tell that the country will experience election skirmishes come 2017 elections. He urged the church to engage themselves in preaching peace in the country rather than breeding suspicion and unnecessary tension in the country. However, the church has remained firm in its stand that the IEBC should be disbanded and given a new face that can earn public confidence.
