Garissa Township MP Aden Duale. facebook.com/ Aden DualeGarissa Township MP Aden Duale has dared the opposition to force IEBC CEO Ezra Chiloba out of the electoral body.
Duale who spoke at State House on Saturday said Supreme Court head David Maraga did not anywhere in his Friday ruling say the IEBC be disbanded before the run-off election is conducted.
“Maraga said in his judgment IEBC will conduct the next general election within 60 days,” he said.
“We now have less than 60 days. He (Maraga) did not say [IEBC Chairman Wafula] Chebukati should quit office, he did not say IEBC Commissioners should leave office, he did not say [IEBC CEO Ezra] Chiloba should leave office. Raila if you are man enough come and remove IEBC officials from office.”
After the Supreme Court ruling, the opposition said IEBC officials who colluded with some Jubilee officials to rig the August 8 presidential election should be ejected from office and barred from conducting any other election.
Opposition leader Raila Odinga who spoke at the NASA Secretariat in Lavington Nairobi Friday said the poll was extremely mismanaged and rigged in favour of his closest challenger President Uhuru Kenyatta.
“Never again will impunity reign in Kenya. It is now clear that no one in Kenya is above the law,”Raila, flanked by his running mate Kalonzo Musyoka and other opposition leaders said.
“It is also now clear that the CEO Mr Ezra Chiloba, directors Immaculate Kasait, Commissioner in charge of ICT Abdi Yakub, head of Legal Affairs Praxedes Tororei, Betty Nyabuto who is in charge of operations and Ben Muhati who is in charge of IT were conspirators with these criminals. They must face criminal prosecution.”
But Uhuru and his deputy William Ruto who addressed a rally in Narok on Saturday said the electoral body will not be disbanded.
