Garissa Township MP Aden Duale has received a major boost in an election petition he is facing against former Lagdera MP Farah Maalim.
In the case filed by Maalim, the Wiper Party Deputy Chairman claims Duale did not win the Garissa seat in the August elections.
On Thursday, Garissa township Constituency Returning Officer Boro Dullacha Duba defended presiding officers he worked with during the August 8 General Election.
According to Duba, who appeared before a Nairobi court, there were no complaints from any quarter on the conduct of the poll officials.
Part of the appeal says poll officials were liable of campaigning or/and aiding Aden Duale in an election that he won.
Maalim’s argument on the extension of voting times in some stations was to aid Duale, a claim the CRO dismissed.
The CRO told the court that voting periods were only extended in polling stations that had opened late.
Maalim’s argument further says that there were massive electoral malpractices and even double voting in certain areas, with most instances favoring the now Majority leader in Parliament.
