Garissa Township MP on Friday distributed tens of wheel chairs and other accessories to disabled persons in the county, saying the accessories shall be used during an annual function to be held in Garissa town.

During the event, the MP distributed over 47 different items to physically challenged children, women and men including walking sticks for the visually impaired.

He also disclosed that the government had put a programme in place form of bursaries, employment opportunities, food distribution and equipment accessories that targets the disabled families.

"We value the disabled persons since they are an important integral members of our community as we believe that 'Disability is not inability'. We have made our members of the disabled community to achieve fairness in their mobility," the MP revealed.

Similarly, Duale presided over the opening of Maad IBN Jamal New Building in Garissa Township, where he assured locals of the construction of a Mosque to accommodate female worshipers. He also pledged to purchase 130 desks for the Madarasas and offer financial support to the Madarasa teachers.
