National Assembly Majority Leader Aden Duale has endorsed former Permanent Secretary Ali Bunow Korane for the Garissa gubernatorial seat.
Speaking on Saturday shortly after attending the Abduwak Community thanksgiving ceremony at Bour Algy Primary School, Duale drummed up support for Korane, saying he is the only candidate qualified enough to replace the current governor Nathif Jama.
"I wish to categorically state that come 2017 my choice for the Garissa Gubernatorial seat is Ali Bunow Korane," Duale said.
"Our journey of selling Mr Korane's candidature to the rest of the communities across all clans, region of origin and faith to consolidate his support base has commenced. His leadership comes at the backdrop of a county leadership that is collapsing and at it's sunset," he added.
The ceremony was graced by political, religious and community leaders.
Ali Bunow Korane is scheduled to vie on a Jubilee Party ticket.
