National assembly leader of majority Aden Duale has sought to explain events that took place in Nyeri on Thursday, where Raila Odinga was ignored during the Madaraka Day celebrations.
According to Dual, the government ignored Odinga during the event because it was a formal government function and not a rally, wedding or a funeral that would warrant Odinga to address the nation.
"There was no crime in not giving Odinga a chance to speak. Madaraka Day was not a rally, weddnig or funeral. It was a national celebration which is presided over by the president," Duale said on Friday
"If Raila does not speak on a national day, does that mean that Kenya not cohesive or inclusive? No. The exclusivity of people of Kenya is the 45 million citizens. It is not about an individual. I was present personally and I did not speak," he added.
Duale's remarks come after NASA supporters criticized Jubilee administration for failing to recognize opposition leader Raila Odinga, who was present during the Madaraka Day celebrations.
