The Garissa Township member of parliament, Aden Duale, on Friday explained the reasons behind the survival of Health Cabinet secretary from impeachment by the national assembly.
According to the leader of the Majority in the National Assembly, the accusations leveled against the Health minister were not as serious as search.
Speaking from national assembly buildings, Mr. Duale said that due to the strong working relationship with the executive, the matter will be addressed at the cabinet level.
"We have a strong working relationship with the executive and we believe that this matter can be dealt with at other levels," the vocal member of parliament said.
Mr. Aden Duale expressed that there were more pressing issues to be dealt with by the Jubilee administration other than debating the impeachment motion. He cited issues such as food security, budget, and devolution among other issues that require more attention as reasons behind the survival of Sicily Kariuki.
"At the moment, we have serious issues to deal with including budget, food security, and devolution among others," explained Duale.
The motion to impeach the health Cabinet Minister Sicily Kariuki was introduced in the parliament by Mandera North MP, Bashir Abdullahi. The lawmaker had cited gross misconduct and abuse of office as the grounds for the impeachment of the CS following the KNH saga.
