The row over the ballot papers tender continues to dominate headlines, even as the opposition Nasa accused Jubilee of influencing the awarding to a Dubai firm.
The Jubilee Party responded to Nasa’s claims, denying having any relationship with Al Ghurair Printing and Publishing LLC – the firm IEBC awarded the Sh2.5 billion tender.
Al Ghurair beat South African Printing firm Paarl Media Ltd to win the tender.
The Leader of Majority in The National Assembly Aden Duale has sensationally linked Nasa presidential candidate Raila Odinga to Paarl Media proprietors, claiming they were great friends.
"We want Raila to come clean on his relationship with Ben Sachs and Patel Shailesh, proprietors of Paarl Media. We know they met in his office thrice in December of 2015 and twice in April 2016," said Duale during a Thursday press address.
The Garissa Township MP claimed that Mr Odinga flew to South Africa twice in 2016 to meet the company’s officials.
He said that the ODM leader was bitter that “his preferred company” did not win the ballot papers printing tender.
The IEBC was forced to call for a meeting involving presidential candidates or their representatives to discuss the matter.
IEBC chairman Wafula Chebukati, while addressing the media after the closed door meeting, said the tender will not be cancelled, owing to the little time remaining before August 8.
