[Some of the youth who attended the dinner meeting in Nairobi with Mr Duale on Friday. They are set to hit the ground and start campaigning for the Jubilee Party]Selected groups of youth will campaign for Jubilee in Garissa and Wajir counties and the larger North Eastern region Parliament, Majority Leader Aden Duale has said.
Duale said the youth will soon launch door-to-door campaigns in the two counties categorised by political analysts as swing zones.
Swing zones are areas where no coalition or party has total control of.
On Friday, Duale met youth from Garissa at a Nairobi Hotel for dinner to strategize on how to hit the campaigns after President Uhuru Kenyatta has dissolved Parliament, officially kicking off campaigns.
Most of the young people set to be recruited to lead the campaigns are elites who come from the two counties but either stay or work in Nairobi.
Present at the Friday dinner meeting was Dr Abdullahi Ali Hassan, a prominent youthful businessman based in Nairobi.
“The meeting was successful and in the next few days, I will be hosting more youth for dinner in support of my bid and Jubilee as a whole,” Duale said.
Duale is facing an uphill reelection task as he is being challenged by former Parliament Deputy Speaker Farah Maalim who is contesting for the Garissa Township MP seat on a Wiper Party ticket.
Maalim was recently handed the Wiper party nomination certificate and is expected to roll out his campaigns anytime soon.
The National Super Alliance brigade led by ODM leader Raila Odinga is expected to directly campaign for Maalim when the campaigns officially begin.
