National Assembly Majority Leader Aden Duale now the government to pay sh.945 million compensation awarded to the late veteran politician Kenneth Matiba paid immediately.
Speaking in Parliament, Duale asked the Budget and Appropriations Committee to seek guidance from the Attorney General and have the amount factored in this year’s supplementary budget.
Matiba was last year awarded Ksh.504 million as damages for unlawful detention and torture by the KANU regime.
The compensation was later increased to Sh945 million after Matiba’s lawyer cited a collapsed business empire.
