Majority Leader Aden Duale has hit back at Cord principal Raila Odinga’s claims that NIS is rigging elections for Jubilee administration.
Duale says Odinga’as claims are bizzare, as he has been out and about boasting that he will register 11 million voters and defeat Jubilee in the August elections.
In a statement to media outlets, the Garissa Township MP maintained that NIS has no role in voter registration or any other election matter, and that Cord should ensure their supporters register.
“The numbers of the first week of voter registration are out, and the ODM just realised that Jubilee is doing well so far. He, therefore, to go into his bag of fake tricks,” said Duale in the statement.
The controversial Jubilee allied MP termed the sentiments as a distraction from what is happening within his party, especially after Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka insisted he wants to be in the ballot.
“Also, Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka's challenge that he will play hard ball over the CORD ticket must have alarmed Raila so much that he had to look for a distraction,” he added.
Odinga on Tuesday sensationally claimed that the government, through the National Intelligence Service, is recruiting foreigners to take part in the coming elections an issue that has sparked a fierce debate across the political divide.
The IEBC is hoping to register over 6 million voters during the month long exercise, with the current figure standing at 825,145 voters from the first week.
