Garissa Township Member of Parliament Aden Duale on Tuesday hosted the evening Iftar that brought together Somali businessmen, students and professionals from the Muslim community.

The evening Iftar hosted at Kilimanjaro Jamia Restaurant provided a forum for the faithfuls to discuss the importance of unity for the community and country's economic empowerment and politics. 

Duale, who is seeking to retain his Garissa Township legislative position advised the members of the Muslim community to strive for educational empowerment as a tool to correct the public face that Islam is an affiliate of radicalisation and extremism.

"Let us invest in educational empowerment, uplift the Islamic institutions and be advocates of preaching the true Islam devoid of radicalisation and extremist ideology. Muslims are peace loving people and not terrorists," noted Duale.

On Sunday, the legislator had also hosted the Iftar for Muslim leaders at his Nairobi residence.
