National Assembly Majority Leader Aden Duale has denied claims that Cord principal Raila Odinga groomed him into who he is today.
Duale rubbished the allegations saying he is the one who gave Raila a national outlook, and even funded his 2007 campaign.
“In 2007, it’s me who delivered more than 10 MPs in Northeastern to ODM and heavily funded his [Raila’s] campaign,” said Duale. The Garissa Township MP further said Raila lost the 2013 elections due to his [Duale] defection to the then Jubilee coalition.“We parted ways due to ideological differences in 2010 and I joined URP. That’s why again he [Raila] lost to URP, and to Jubilee in 2013, where more than 15 MPs were elected on the URP ticket,” he said.“To the contrary, I’m the one who added value to Raila by giving him a national outlook — from a Luo leader to a national leader,” he added. This comes after Raila accused Duale of stabbing him in the back after he financed his campaign and made him who he is today.“I personally picked up Duale [from Mombasa] and took him to one of the sheikhs in Garissa town and a group of renowned elders and I prevailed upon them to support Duale for the then Dujis constituency parliamentary seat, which he subsequently won on the ODM ticket,” said Raila as quoted by the Star.“But unfortunately Duale, a political novice then, is now among those going around the country abusing and calling me all manner of names. I leave all this to God,” he added.
