According to Orengo, Duale who doubles also as the National assembly majority leader should be ignored because the claims made linking a businessman identified as Rai to be the one behind the contraband sugar saga are false allegations.

“Duale is only interested in getting political mileage linking people he knows nothing about to contraband sugar saga. The government is fighting itself because the people involved in dubious dealings are in government but, Duale and others are blaming businesspeople who are doing their businesses legally,” he said.

Orengo called on Duale to allow EACC and other agencies to investigate dubious dealings in the country before he rushes to link people to illicit trade.

The opposition senator said politicians should step up efforts to ensure the lives of Kenyans are not at risk by consuming fake products imported into the country by cartels who are out to make money.

“Cartels must be fought by all of us whether in Jubilee or NASA because the lives of the electorates will be in danger if fake products are allowed to be sold to innocent Kenyans. KRA, EACC should not allow cartels at bordering points to penetrate counterfeit products into the country,” he noted.

Orengo was speaking on Sunday night during an interview at KTN.
