Parliament Majority Leader Aden Duale has laughed at ODM’s bungled primary polls saying Jubilee Party’s will be free and fair.
Speaking at Soko Ng’ombe in Garissa town, Duale said Jubilee was a Democratic Party determined conduct free and fair polls.
He said the party was prepared to conduct the polls since ballot papers and boxes were ready. He also said training of staff who will conduct the poll was ongoing.
“Primaries in ODM have always been like that,” he said.
“It is a party that is controlled by selected few who are close to party leader Raila Odinga. Expecting to see free, fair and transparent nominations for ODM is like day dreaming,”
On Friday, chaos broke out in Busia after Funyula MP Paul Otuoma rejected results of the county’s gubernatorial contest against governor Sospeter Ojaamong after alleging the poll was rigged in Ojaamong’s favour.
The ODM cancelled the results and directed the elections be repeated on April 25.
“I have said it before and I want to repeat it again that in ODM the party ticket is sold to the highest bidder. What I said is now coming to pass.”
He assured JP aspirants that Jubilee’s elections will be free and fair.
He also said the party has put in place logistics that will ensure both winners and losers will be satisfied with the exercise.
“The National Elections Board, the secretariat and party leadership have invested a lot to have peaceful nominations,” the Garissa Township MP added.
He challenged the IEBC to move with sped and ensure Biometric Voter Registration kits are delivered to all locations in the country by May 10.
Jubilee Party’s party primary election will be conducted beginning April 21.
