Incumbent Garissa Township MP Aden Duale has taken a lead in the race for retaining his seat.
With 32 per cent of the votes counted, Duale has managed to garner 7,030 votes, leading his closest competitor Farah Maalim who has managed 4,904 votes so far.
ANC’s Abdi Yare has a paltry 139 votes by 5:00 am.
Duale and Maalim have been embroiled in a war of words during their campaigns, and it remains to be seen who will carry the day when IEBC will be done with the counting.
After casting his vote on Tuesday, Duale urged his supporters to remain calm, assuring them that he was confident of retaining his seat.
