Garissa Township MP Aden Duale officiated the Prize Giving Ceremony for Garissa High School where he joined teachers, parents, students and the local community.
Garissa High School is the top performing National School in the region with an average mean score of over 6.5.
"For the past 8 years, 600 students have joined various universities across the country and many more since its inception in 1969," Duale said on Thursday.
He also opened the new Balambala modern dormitory, and affirmed that the Ministry of Education had committed additional Sh5 million for the construction of new modern laboratory and 5 laptops for the school computer lab.
"From the Garissa Township CDF, I supported the new scannia bus and allocated resources for the construction of new modern dormitory that will support the transition to Secondary."
Duale also asked Education officials and Provincial Administration to implement new free secondary education, free text books policy, and urged parents and teachers to maintain high discipline in schools.
"Thanks to the school Principal Abdi Maulid, teachers, Board of Management, PTA and students for the high performance achieved through discipline."
