Aden Duale. Photo/Kenya TodayThe Leader of Majority in the National Assembly, Aden Duale, has told off opposition leaders over who has the mandate of declaring presidential results.
Duale told the National Super Alliance (Nasa) leaders to declare that they were not ready for the August elections, instead of undermining the work of the IEBC.
He said it was the responsibility of IEBC chairman Wafula Chebukati to declare presidential results saying the Constitution does not give powers to other officials to do so.
The Garissa Township MP was speaking in Tana River on Wednesday when he accompanied the president and his deputy William Ruto.
The IEBC moved to court to challenge a High Court ruling that said presidential results declared at the constituency level are final.
Nasa leaders have vowed to boycott the August Elections if the Court of Appeal overturns High Court’s ruling.
