National Assembly Majority leader Aden Duale has said that the National Super Alliance (NASA) leader Raila Amolo Odinga will back Deputy President William Ruto in 2022.
According to Duale, the Kalenjin community supported the former Prime Minister in his quest to power, adding that Raila will now turn to Ruto.“The only community that made Raila a PM was the Kalenjin. That is why you should not be surprised to see Raila endorse Ruto for the presidency in 2022,” Duale said, as quoted by The Star. He also said that the moment has come for the pastoral communities to ensure that they support one of their own to take over leadership in 2o22. “We must ensure that a pastoralist gets to State House after President Uhuru Kenyatta and you (PPG members) know what I’m talking about,” he said. The debate comes at a time when leaders are jostling over who will become the second in command upon the end of Uhuru’s term in office. Several names have been suggested including Meru Governor Kiraitu Murungi, Water CS Eugene Wamalwa and his Devolution counterpart Mwangi Kiunjuri.
