Members of parliament have criticised the Constituency Development Fund (CDF) Committee for failing to release the Sh25 billion meant for various development projects at the constituency level.
Led by Garissa township MP Aden Duale, the MPs on accused the committee members for failing to deliver to their expectations. Duale said the special parliamentary sitting was convened so that members of parliament could appraise the list with the options of either to approve or revise it.
The MPs said the CDF committee chaired by MP Moses Lessonet, was taking long to table their submissions to the house for debate and adoption in the House.
“The CDF committee should table the list of ceilings of monies awarded to the constituencies so that legislators can start preparing their development projects. This is now what is very important to us. It is one of the reasons many reasons why we recalled members,” stated Duale.
The special parliamentary sitting was convened after the MPs were asked to cut short their month-long recess period, only for the CDF board chair Lessonet to announce that the list was yet to be finalized.
