National Assembly Majority Leader Aden Duale has accused ODM leader Raila Odinga of double speak on corruption, and asked him to let Kilifi Governor Amason Kingi take responsibility for the loss of funds in his administration.
On Wednesday, Duale questioned why Raila has been asking President Uhuru to take responsibility for the rampant graft in the government but defended Kingi over the same.
“He has previously asked President Uhuru Kenyatta to take responsibility for corruption in the government, yet he is now asking for due process to be followed in investigating the scandal in Kilifi,” said Duale as quoted by Citizen Digital.
The Garissa Township MP also accused Kingi of engaging in corruption citing the purchase of a Sh160 million house using taxpayers money instead of buying food for the residents.
“All governors, whether in Jubilee or Cord, must take responsibility for the loss of money allocated to their counties. As Jubilee, we would not allow any governor who has engaged in corruption to vie on our party ticket in the 2017 General Election.”
He at the same time said the former Prime Minister is a 'ghost worker' who receives monthly stipends from all ODM-led counties.
Duale who was speaking during a press conference at Parliament Buildings, said Raila's travel expenses (local and foreign trips), accommodation and even pocket money are paid from the ODM-led counties' kitties.
“I can confirm that during Raila’s recent visit to Wajir and Garissa counties, the choppers were paid for by the governors, and I have evidence to prove it.” he was quoted by Citizen Digital.
“Raila must refund the millions he has received as allowances, stipends, pocket money and hotel fees.”
This come after Raila defend the Cord led governments after an audit report by the Auditor General indicated mass misappropriation of funds from the Cord counties.
He also defended Kingi against the corruption scandal that marred Kilifi county., and asked Uhuru to borrow a leaf from the governor in fighting corruption in government.
