Responding to Odinga’s claims that the government has failed Kenyans with their inability to tame corruption, Jubilee MPs hit out at Raila, accusing him of clutching on to his straw ahead of the polls.

During their address at parliament buildings on Friday afternoon, the Jubilee MPs said Odinga’s aim is to discredit the elections in order to negotiate for a coalition government.

“It will not happen under this leadership, majority of Kenyans will not tolerate and entertain this. They cannot allow a power-hungry lot to destroy our motherland,” said Duale.

The leaders further stated that Kenyans will not allow Odinga to cause violence, and that the next polls will be free and fair.

Duale further accused Raila of “Keep talking about Kenyans as if he is their spokesman. We are also Kenyans, and in the majority, and he doesn’t speak for us."

The address came shortly after the opposition leader attacked the government over increased corruption, saying President Uhuru Kenyatta is a "patron of the corrupt".

Kenya was ranked one of the most corrupt countries in Africa and on the globe in a report released by the Transparency International, which placed the country 145th out of 176 countries, with a score of 26.
